What's This?

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Milton M. Kleinberg’s “Memories of My Childhood: During and After the Holocaust 1937 – 1951” is now available in eBook format for the iPad, Kindle and Nook. Originally published in hard cover in 2011, the Holocaust memoir traces Kleinberg and his family’s escape from Nazi-occupied Poland in 1939 and their subsequent capture and internment in the Soviet Union. eBook versions are available for download at http://mmkbook.wordpress.com/get-the-book/ for only $ 2.99.

“Memories of My Childhood is a personal account of how my parents and I were swept up by the torrent of World War II, and managed to survive our ordeal in the Soviet Union,” Kleinberg said. “Our most memorable experience was a three-month Journey, in cattle cars, on the Trans-Siberian rail line across Russia from Arkhengelsk to Samarkand, Uzbekistan.”

Kleinberg wrote the book as a personal legacy for his children, grandchildren and siblings who were born after the war so they could better understand how the horrors of the holocaust affected their family and the people living in Europe and Russia during World War II.

Many libraries and historians around the world have taken a special interest in “Memories…” because it tells a lesser-known side of the story of the Holocaust—that of the Jews who fled to the Soviet Union, escaping the death camps, only to be taken as prisoners of war by the Russians.

“To my surprise and amazement, the Soviet Union’s participation in the Holocaust is not widely known,” Kleinberg said. “People who have read my book found the story very compelling, and felt strongly that this book belongs in Yadvashem, the Holocaust Museum, libraries and made available to teachers who conduct Holocaust studies.”
